Excavation, stone placement, levels and drainage were treated as connected work. This practical site capability supports Salt & Sand’s focus on custom acreage homes where the land itself is a major part of the build.
Creating useful ground on a sloping site
Retaining can improve access, define outdoor areas and make steep or uneven land more practical. The alignment and height of the wall were considered alongside the surrounding levels so the finished work supports the way the property will be used. Natural stone gives the structure weight and permanence while allowing its colour and irregular form to sit comfortably within the acreage landscape.
Construction shaped by the material
Every stone varies in size and form, so placement requires judgement as well as machinery. Excavation establishes the working area and base, then stones are selected and positioned to build a stable, visually balanced wall. The process shown in the gallery reflects Salt & Sand’s hands-on site capability and its broader approach to acreage work, where retaining, drainage, access and landscaping need to support one another.
